Every year, as the December days start drawing in, I begin to look forward to the upcoming break, when I can spend precious time with the family. There’s a chilly excitement in the air, which tells me its starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

On Thursday 20 October, KC and his wife, Mrs. Clark invited myself, Tony Conway, Jean Dignand and their respective partners to attend Dell EMC’s Million Makers Dinner at The Savoy Hotel in London. The annual event is held to raise funds on behalf of The Prince’s Trust, which is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people, specifically helping those aged 13-30 get into jobs and training.
What is the best business advice you have ever been given“Beware of toes you step on today, as they may be connected to the backside you have to kiss tomorrow!” I Can’t remember where I heard this, but it was definitely from someone wise. Q1. What is your favourite business book and what did you learn from it?
The E Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber. The book discusses the reasons why small business do not often work. It taught me valuable lessons on planning (strategy and time), and also company structure. It gives great advice on how to have the right people doing the right jobs within an organisation
What is the best business advice you have ever been given?
I think it’s incredibly important to treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. This stands true in both business and personal life.
Getting closer to Dell is going swell.
One of the main reasons for publishing this blog is that it gives me an opportunity to keep customers, partners and colleagues up to speed with life at MTI from my perspective.
Those of you who have been following my blog will recall that MTI was invited to a charity dinner by our firends at EMC on behalf of The Princess Trust, toward the end of last year. The dinner concluded with a charity auction which saw MTI winning a ferocious bidding war for a superb day out shooting. Well, that shooting day happened last week at E.J.Churchill Shooting Ground, High Wycombe.
